Epic Tours:

From weekend trips to round-the-world adventures, epic is in the mind of the beholder.

Bike touring is a wonderful and enriching way to explore the world. It yields such interesting photos and stories.

We're not afraid to say it: bike touring makes you a better person.

And this is where we say it.

Read about those adventures and the gear that makes it possible -- the gear we have on, BikeTrailerShop.com and BikeBagShop.com.

Submit your Bike Touring Photos

When we send a bike rack or pannier off to a customer it's always with the hope that it is going somewhere amazing -- epic.

But the accessories we sell can't take their own photos (yet). So we need you to send us photos from your bike tours to exotic locations. Send us anything from that shot of you and your bike at the top of the summit to that shot of your perfect rack and bag setup. Submit your bike touring photos here and we'll let you know when we publish them.

Bicycle Traveler Magazine

Always happy to share other great cycling advocacy and adventure resources, we received this guest post from Grace Johnson, publisher of Bicycle Traveler magazine and TravellingTwo.com:

Bicycle Traveler is a new – and free – online bicycle touring magazine.  It’s full of entertaining stories and inspiring photography which will have you dreaming over new destinations and also includes information on cycling gear.

Featured in the magazine is one of Grace and partner, photographer Paul Jeurissen’s very own epic tours…

One of the classic bicycle touring routes has to be the Leh-Manali highway in the Indian Himalaya.  We rode it in the summer of 2011 during our round the world bicycle tour and also posted some advice on cycling the route.

Paul recommends carrying waterproof panniers during the trip since there are so many streams that need to be crossed.  “At one point I slipped in the middle of the stream and the whole bike went underwater.  I was so glad that all my gear was packed in the Ortliebs.”

Bike Touring Basics” is also a free magazine, created by TravellingTwo.com to help answer the questions that so many people have when they’re planning a first tour. It will tell you about budgeting and planning for a tour, which bike to buy, the other equipment you’ll need and good places for a first tour.

Grace and Paul’s other worldly adventures have also been featured on our sister blog UtilityCycling.org.
