Submit Your Bike Trailer Photos

Here at the Bike Trailer Blog we are going in a new direction, driven by your photos and stories of your bike trailers and experiences. We greatly encourage user feed back from products purchased from our sites, Bike Trailer Shop, Bike Bag Shop and Bike Kid Shop. We are also very interested in any cool DIY bike trailers or bike trailer accessory setups that someone has designed on their own. This blog is about sharing the fun and creativity of customizing and using your own bike trailer and to develop a forum to help spread ideas and resources.

Bike trailer trash

Bike Trailer Bloggers, Josh Lipton and Jeff HankensThis Earth Day weekend, Bike Trailer Shop staffers Josh and Jeff, got out to help clean up Flag’s south side. Not wanting to get too dirty, we naturally volunteered to haul around the bagged trash and deliver refreshments, while the thirty-or-so other volunteers donned hip waders and dredged the infamous Rio de Flag. When they filled up a bag, we picked it up and rolled back to the collection site.

It sounded simple enough, until people started picking up things like abandoned shopping carts, worm-eaten mattresses, office chairs, shovels, and approximately 6,765,986 40oz bottles of Old English. It turned out to be a good thing we brought out the big guns: an Xtracycle, Carry Freedom Y-Frame, and a Bikes at Work Model 96 (as detailed here).

Dropping a loadIt’s fun watching people’s reaction when they see a bike trailer in action for the first time, but it’s even more fun when you have a shopping cart lashed to the back and mounds of trash bags onboard. All in all, the pickup was a success, netting hundreds of pounds of trash, all hauled by bicycle. What could be sweeter?

How are you celebrating Earth Day? Hopefully by riding your bike, with or without a trailer.

  1. [...] With National Bike-to-Work-Week kicking off, the Flagstaff Biking Organization kicked things off here with there Bike Bazaar in Downtown Flagstaff. It’s a great event for all the Bike Heads to come out and sell off all the miscellaneous bike parts that have been building up in their garage. We were cleaning house as well. We used Jeff’s Bikes-At-Work trailer not only to get everything to the Bike Bazaar but also a perfect way to sort and arrange the used stuff we had for sale. With six bins we had the $1, $2, $3, $5, $10 and $15 bins. It made it nice and easy to sell stuff with very little bartering. If something wasn’t moving we just shifted it down to the next cheaper bin. By the end of the day the bins were empty and I had a nice wad of cash in my pocket. Not only is this trailer great for bargain bins it is also an excellent Earth Day Recycling Machine. [...]
