Interbike is coming (plus, I need your help!)

Interbike, the yearly bike-gasm trade show held in Las Vegas, is quickly approaching. This is the event where cycling related companies all get under one roof and try to peddle their wares to bike shops and media folks. Last year saw a huge swell in commuter specific bike products and 2008 promises to be no different.

We talked about this subject in the latest episode of the Bike to Work Book Podcast:

My prediction is there will be much more casual style, bike specific clothing. People don’t want to wear spandex or sit in a chamois all day, so I think there is a lot of room for growth in technical cycling gear that is easy and comfortable

Also, I think there will be much more complete commuter packages available. There will be more of a selection of bikes that come stock with fenders, rack, lights, etc. Ready to roll off the floor and onto the road.

What are you looking for in ways of new products?

And now I need your help!

I have a segment on Cycling.tv that will be filmed live at Interbike. Last year I spoke with some industry experts on the subject, and this year I would like to have some shop owners on as guests.

Is your shop commuter friendly?

Is your shop owner going to Interbike?

Please have them contact me if they’d like to be a guest on the show. We’ll discuss the pros and cons to running a commuter friendly shop and the business behind it. Also, they’ll get some exposure on cycling.tv and here on commutebybike.com.

Please have them email me at diggers@commutebybike.com.
