Portland Bike Counter

by Melanie Colavito

Portland, often one of the front-runners of bicycling improvements and innovations in the U.S., can now claim to be the first city in North America with a bike counter. Streetfilms recently featured the Portland bike counter, which was purchased through a grant and provided to the city by Cycle Oregon. Check out Bike Portland for lots of great information, and watch the video below for some highlights. It’s exciting to see bike counters coming to the U.S., and hopefully this is the first of many. Seattle seems to be posed to be the next city to install one. Portland Adds Nation’s First Bike Counter to Hawthorne Bridge from Streetfilms on Vimeo.

One Response to “Portland Bike Counter”

  1. The number of cyclists in Portland is – pardon the sappy word – BREATHTAKING.

I’m sure other cities will eventually be, like Portland, filled with bicyclists.

It is our inevitable future. I hope to see a lot more similar infrastructure.

    Thanks fo sharing this.
