I'm using my road bike for touring, and due to the short chain stay, I had a heel clearance issue with a couple of other bags I tried.  What do you recommend?  I'd like to get at least 2,400 – 2,500 cubic inches capacity.

Hello,

There are several differences between the Lone Peak P340 and the P400.  You are correct that the P340 is a bit smaller than Lone Peak states.  Their listed measurements probably don't include the outer pockets on the bag.  There are two notable difference between these bags.  The P400 bag is closed by a zipper that goes around the top and side of the bag.  The P340 uses a clam shell top with a drawstring to close the main compartment.  It is possible to pack some extra items under the clam shell top.  The other difference is that the P400 has organizational pockets that cover the main compartment.  The P340 has a side pocket and one on the top of the cover.

When it comes to choosing between the two I would pick the one that has the style of closure that you prefer using.
