After attending a wedding in NJ last weekend, my fiance and I got to spend a day in NYC. We chose to just do some urban hiking, meandering our way from mid-town down to lower Manhattan. It has been encouraging to see the growing presence of bikes in the city over the past years. There are always some entertaining examples of bicycles to see from the multitude of bike messengers to clapped-out delivery bikes. This year I not only saw 2 Xtracycle, but also a bakfiets, all parked in the Greenwich village area. I snapped this photo of this entertaining Frankenstein bike that’s hard to tell if it is seeing much service these days, but I’m sure provides plenty of entrainment when it does hit the roads.
