Tandem Team Bike Commuting

thorn-tandem-with-vaude-tarpe-and-ortlieb-downtown-panniers-cropMy fiance and I decided to bike to work on our Thorn Tandem the other day. We are currently testing out 2 of the new bike commuting panniers that we are offering at BikeBagShop.com. I’ve been using the Orange Vaude Wright Tarp and Melanie has been riding with the Aubergene Ortlieb Downtown commuter pannier. It was entertaining to see both of the panniers mounted side-by-side on our RackTime Tourit Rack. The orange and purple reminded us of our Phoenix Suns that have just been eliminated from the NBA Playoffs. Does anyone else out there ride with an interesting color combo of bike panniers to represent their favorite team?

Hi, any comments on the differences between the two bags?

The specs show that the Vaude has quite a bit more volume, but in the picture they don’t look that much different in size, except the Vaude’s maybe taller. The Ortlieb sheer waterproofness is appealing, but the Vaude’s zip-away pannier mounts seem sensible, if not a bit of a hassle, having to roll up the zip cover.
