Usually if I am about to head out for a ride, I stay away from greasy foods such as McGriddles and Hasbrowns…(mmmm)

The reason why I don’t like to eat anything greasy right before a ride…THIS COULD HAPPEN

    This morning I had two scrambled eggs with ketchup.

    When I did the century back in September, I didn’t eat that morning, but I did have a big meal the night before. I just throw some granola bars in with my stuff and take off, then eat when I get hungry. Usually, I’m not hungry first thing out of bed. After I’ve ridden to work and am settled at my desk – that’s when I get hungry, and I’ve had my share of egg, cheese & sausage on a croissant right after a ride, but not McDonald’s or Dunkin’ Donuts for crying out loud. If you’re going to eat that, go to a real bakery.

    I always get weird cravings for food right after a long ride. After the five boro bike tour, I wanted nothing more than a big pile of fish and chips. After the century, it was hummus on flatbread pitas.

    I typically go for the something with peanut butter (usually just some toast) and I usually bring along a homemade granola bar just incase I need the extra bit of intake.

    Before a ride, I usually eat 1 eggo waffle, a bowl of cereal (no milk) and coffee. That gives me enough energy to start up my ride. I then follow it with a Clif Bar and/or a banana. A key for me to survive long rides is to be eating frequently. I eat Clif Bars, bananas, pb and J mini sandwiches, nuts, and Tums (for calcium). My only craving after a long ride is a nice cold beer.

  4. It’s great to hear that you guys are health concious and are watching what you eat. But I have to be honest, Mc D’s steak beagels for me.

    I don’t like to eat right before a ride. My morning rides are usually on an empty stomach, or maybe a bowl of cereal.

    I usually eat either oatmeal or cold cereal. I sometimes have a bagel/cream cheese or eggos. Once I arrive at work at eat like a cow however!

  7. I actually just do that before I hit the trails. But on a daily routine, coffee and popcorn seems to be the norm.

  8. We have one of those industrial size popcorn machines at the shop. So yup, popcorn!
