Tip of the helmet to Alan Snel for pointing out this Today Show video — Bob Dotson reports on a Philadelphia businessman who is more concerned about giving to others than making money for himself. In 1973, Hal Taussig gave his last car to a hitch hiker. He commutes by bike and has loaned five million dollars to businesses which help the poor or the environment.
“I’m not curing the problems, but I’m addressing some problems that others aren’t addressing.”
At one point in the video the interviewer says “You know you’re out of step with most millionaires, most big bussiness people today.” To which he replies: “I’m pleased to hear that. It seems to me that they haven’t found the real joys that I have.”
What a cool story. I like that.
