2010 NAHBS : Video Interview with Vanilla Workshop

Thanks to covering the North American Handmade Bicycle Show for Versus.com I was able to get a few really good one on one interviews with builders that may never of happened. Here is the first with Sacha White of Vanilla Workshop.

Thanks to Brad from UrbanVelo.org for the use of his photo for official business.blue_vanilla248

Thanks for posting this. As I was watching this video, I was telling my friend that it looked like an interesting shape, like a motorcycle. And exactly when I said that, Sacha was saying it was like a WWII BMW motorcycle. I wonder if it’s comfortable?

I really like the commentary. I feel like a lot of bike builders are sort of “hippie” and not practical but Mr. White’s design ideas make perfect sense.

As I’m watching this, I find that I can’t take my eyes off the video. I’m thinking to myself, “Is this bicycle porn?” 🙂

Vanilla has made a beautiful bike – just add a chain guard and I’m sold!

Does anybody really commute on a hand-made bike?

The first couple of NAHMBSs were kind of interesting. Now they’re really not. And the most boring thing about it is that so many bike-nerd blogs post nothing but hand made bicycle exotica for weeks, regardless of relevance to the blog’s nominal subject.
